Jim Thompson Art on Farm
Art on Farm 2013 had held at Jim Thompson Farm, Pak Thongchai District by Jim Thompson Art Center. This annual project aims to create a connection between art, life and nature. Theme is understanding the Meaning of Isan Textiles.
In this project, the artists are encouraged to work in natural surroundings and use local or recycled materials under eco-agricultural concepts. This project allows artists to explore a new realm of art – opting for more environmentally-friendly
experimenting works with unprecedented artistic concepts and extending their existing knowledge.
Eiji Sumi had created Giant Cocoon, using recycle material of silk fross stretched by the water then refabricated to create cocoon like surface textile with bamboo structure. By making the Giant Cocoon, Eiji express the feeling and sensation of human being smaller than silk worms instead, and Eiji wants to appreciate what we have in our life which we don't’ usually imagine where these textile is coming from.
